On the 8th April 2009 a man was arrested over the death of Colette Aram, a teenager murdered 26
years ago and whose case was the first ever featured on BBC One's Crimewatch programme.

Colette Aram, 16, was walking to her boyfriend Russell Godfrey’s house in Keyworth,
Nottinghamshire, on 30 October 1983 when she was abducted. Her body was later found in a field close
to her home.

Colette lived with her parents, hairdresser Jacquiline, 53, and 58-year-old joiner Tony, along with
her brother Mark, who was 19 at the time, in Normanton Lane, Keyworth.

Colette’s Mum Jacqui said she was a fun child. She was very happy, always laughing, always
smiling. She always thought about other people. She was a very caring girl. She did a stint in one
of the hospitals as nursing was what she originally wanted to do," says Jacqui. "She had started
working as a trainee hairdresser. Her aunt bought the salon for Colette so she had some kind of
future. But of course that never happened."

Hundreds of officers worked on the case after the teenager's body was found just over a mile from
where she disappeared. During the case, detectives developed a DNA profile of the killer after items
recovered during the inquiry were re-examined. Following the DNA breakthrough, police have used it
to eliminate about 800 suspects.

Nottinghamshire Police began a publicity campaign - with leaflets delivered to 15,000 homes - last
October, on the 25th anniversary of her murder.

This also saw a new Crimewatch appeal, which officers said brought a number of lines of enquiry
forward.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I hope that the sick
perpetrator gets prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I cannot and will not call him/her an animal.
This would be an insult to GOD'S Creatures. Domesticated animals love you unconditionally. Wild animals generally will not bother you unless they are cornered by a human. My heart goes out to all of her loved ones. Please remember that Colette will live in your hearts and memories forever. Even the sicko that took her away from you cannot take that away from you.

God Bless You Colette-and your dearest family

You really do not want to read what I want to write! If I wrote what I feel then you would not really think that I was a human being. Oh Yes I am! So much so that I am a counsellor in PRIMARY CARE! YET I do not care for this ANIMAL!

What I think about this ANIMAL is not worth my reputation. GOD BLESS YOU COLETTE AND YOUR NEAREST AND DEAREST. xxxxxxxx

Although this was and still remains a terrible tragedy, it is true what they say, What goes around comes around I am a great believer in Karma, I hope now that your parents and family can find peace in the fact that your killer has been caught and you will now hopefully get justice,

Much Love and Big Hugs to you Collette and your loved ones who will be suffering so much I know the day will be just like yesterday and that never goes away but this is going to bring the horrendous pain back.

I do hope and pray that justice is achieved for Collette.

To Collette and her family

I am the daughter of a friend of Jaqui's and I remember going over to Colettes with my Mum. It so heartbreaking that such a lovely family have been broken by a man, who may have been arrested but had the nerve to carry on without giving Colettes family the peace they so desperately deserved. Being one of many of the Keyworth community who were interviewed, it affected us all and our hearts went to the family left behind and we all lived in fear for years to come.
We only hope that this is going to shine light on the circumstances, although we will never come to terms with what happened, or understand the calousness of why this 'thing' did what he did to her...justice will hopefully be done....
